Notice of a public meeting

The City of St. John's will hold a Public Meeting on the date noted above to provide an opportunity for public review and comment on the following matter:

An application submitted by Myles-Leger Ltd to rezone the Belvedere Property for a mixed use development. The application is as follows:
 

1) to rezone the portion of the site where St. Michael's convent and the Orphanage buildings are located to the Commercial Office (CO) Zone. The developers have agreed to a nine month time frame to attempt to find interested parties for occupancy of these buildings;
2) to rezone the adjacent field off Bonaventure Avenue and Belvedere Lane to the Commercial Neighbourhood (CN) Zone to accommodate a small commercial development for the services geared towards students at the nearby schools; and
3) to rezone the portion of the property off Newtown Road to the Residential High Density (R3) Zone to accommodate a proposed townhousing development consisting of approximately 45 townhouse units on a proposed cul-de-sac off Newtown Road.
 


 
Any persons who wish to comment on the application prior to the Public Meeting are requested to submit their comments in writing to the City Clerk (PO Box 908, St. John's, Nfld. A1C 5M2; FAX 576-8474). Written and verbal representations may also be made at the Public Meeting which will be chaired by a member of the St. John's Municipal Council.

The application may be inspected at the offices of the City Engineering and Planning Department located on the third floor of the St. John's City Hall during the hours of 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Telephone inquiries may be directed to 576-8380.

Any person with a disability who plans to attend the Public Meeting and requires any special arrangements is asked to contact the City Clerk's Department at 576-8616.
